This time last year, we contracted Dura to meet a nearly impossible deadline to help us design a new deck, demolish the dangerous old one and have the new one built by mid-summer. The porch at the main entrance to our cottage was looking tired and was too small. Ecstatically it was not pleasing and it was awkward to use as a sitting area. We wanted a deck that looked like a porch and was maintenance free, therefore we were considering composite. After researching several deck builders and not finding a suitable contractor I checked out web sites of manufacturers of composite deck materials looking for their endorsed contractors. I found Dura Contracting as an endorsed builder, this convinced me that Dura Contracting specializes in composite decks and meets the rigid standards of the manufacturers. Upon checking the Dura Contracting web page I found it professionally done and very comprehensive. I gathered significant understating of Dura Contracting expertise as well as ideas of what a quality deck looks like. There were many many pictures and videos of completed projects that illustrated their quality work. My initial phone conversation with Brett Smith gave me an understanding of the scope, schedule and cost of our project. This convinced me that I wanted to move forward with a site visit to develop a more detailed project plan. Brett came to site and spent the time to fully understand our needs and to explain the options and merits of each option that were available. Based on this site visit we were convinced that we wanted to proceed with a detailed plan and budget. Brett was readily available by telephone or email throughout the planning and budgeting phase and a well-developed proposal that fully detailed scope schedule and cost was presented. The construction phase of this project was professionally delivered on time and on budget with excellent results. The Dura Contracting team is a very skilled team of professionals that deliver quality work. Not only did I notice their skill level and professionalism but my neighbors also recognized and commented on their performance. Brett Smith and his team are very good to deal with, courteous, professional and accommodating. We hired Dura Contracting to replace an existing deck that had deteriorated over time. We wanted to rebuild with composite decking, and wanted a contractor experienced with these products. Dura turned out to be an excellent choice. From the outset, Brett (the owner) provided valuable guidance on the technical and design options for the new deck. Brett is extremely knowledgeable about the available composite products, and knows how to use them to full advantage. His suggestions and advice were key success factors for our project. The actual construction was done in a very professional manner. Brett and his team (Matt and Evan) are all highly skilled, and it’s obvious that they work well together as a team. They have all the right equipment, and are well organized on the jobsite (see photo). They pay close attention to the technical details required for long deck life (the Building Inspector was impressed). They also pay close attention to the finish details that make the deck more appealing and inviting. Bottom line is that the finished deck is rock solid and looks great. Dura did an excellent job. Top notch Professionals! Working with Brett and his crew was a wonderful experience. My wife and I are truly thankful we called Dura Contracting for their services. As far as workmanship they just cannot be beat, and we would recommend them over any other Deck company in the Kingston area. Hands down! The crew is very skilled.
